Catholic Quote of the Day, May 31, 2012

“The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.” — G.K. Chesterton

This quote could provide a thesis for this blog. Yes, it is difficult to fully live an authentic Catholic life, especially as we are so counter-culture in this day, but the unsurpassed joy and peace found by living out our vocations in harmony with the faith provides more than enough consolation to persevere. Far from being “wanting” I want MORE of it, and to live it even more faithfully.

  1. Perfect. along with Flannery O’Connors, “The Truth shall make you odd.”

P.S. My own writing has been delayed as I work on my art site – oh, and I picked up some contract work for a local Right to Life chapter.

  2. That’s fantastic that you’ve got some contract work! Love the Flannery quote; I’d not read that one before. It is very true in my life. We’re raising kids who are at least content with, and sometimes proud of, their odd-ness. LOL
